Kehidupan di Seseri/SMS Seri Puteri

It's been a very long time since I updated, so I guess this is another life update for the first time in an eternity?

A new chapter begins.

It has been approximately two weeks since I changed my school. I am the second intake of SMS Seri Puteri, the Meliora batch. Honestly, I do not really like my batch name because the meaning is too cliche. Saya mampu redha je la hukshuks. I thought this might be useful to anyone who is interested in this school so I have decided to post about life in Seseri. Since 2016, Seseri has limited their intakes of Form 4 students and started taking in Form 1 students. I'm lucky enough to be chosen, I guess. Out of 2000+ of those who applied for Seseri, currently only 74 people including me are eligible enough to come to this school and choose to. Well, my mother encouraged me to accept this offer.

Anywhere in life that you want to go.. You really need strong mentality. "I can survive." "I can do it."

When I first set foot into this school, I was very excited. There are a lot of opportunites in this school you may get. Scholarships, experience, opportunities to show your talents and skills. Seseri is a prestigious school, ranking number 11 of all Malaysian schools for the best SPM results. Number 9 in SBP. Considering the fact that Seseri is an SBP, they do take in non-Malays but they are usually the minority. So, if you are a non-Malay, you really need to stand out. The rules are very tight here, discipline is so important. If you do anything slightly wrong, like calling at a wrong time, you will get demerits. Which sucks. I really encourage you to choose to go to SPT MRSM if you are Malay because I have a friend in MRSM TGB and the rules are less tight there. (MRSM TGB is the number 1 Malaysian school) Chill for life bruh! Due to some personal reasons, I have only chose to apply for Seseri.

As I got to know more about this school, the excitement faded. Too much rules and homeworks. All of it higher than Mount Kilimanjaro, or even Mount Everest. Again, redha.

Here's a little bit about the school's background:
The school (Sekolah Menengah Sains Seri Puteri aka SESERI) was established in 2003 at the old territory of SSP aka Sekolah Seri Puteri (which is in Cyberjaya now). Don't be fooled, the school buildings and hostels are much older than it is stated. SSP was established in 1968 at this territory and moved in 2003, so the school is indeed very very old. Located in Jalan Kolam Ayer, Seseri is in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

To ask for an offer to go to this school, you will need to apply online through KPM. There are a few conditions you ought to fulfill.
1. A lot of As in PT3. straight As, usually. A in Science and Maths are definite.
2. Malaysian citizen!! Warganegara Malaysia.
3. Active in co-curiculum. At least B (Not many here I know have C).
Side note: the government prioritise those from outside KL, healthy(no asthma, serious health problems etc) and have parents with low salaries.

If you are someone who has been learning Maths and Science in BM, be prepared to become a translator. You will have to learn all elective subjects, Maths and Science in English. Our nation's second language is very important in this school. Besides that, you must also prepare financially. At least 1.5k for the fees, another 1k for personal belongings. The teachers currently working in this school are mostly young. Yes, very good qualification but less experienced. Some of the teachers who are still single, have very bad temper and teaches effortlessly. There are also some teachers who will make you feel sleepy in class and ask you to study a lot of things on your own.

Some rules out of the billions of rules in Seseri:
1. No phones can be brought to school(even Nokia)
2. Use public phone to call (4.30pm-5:15pm)(10:15pm-11pm)
3. No tablets. Only laptops with stickers that you need to purchase from the HighCom.
4. Everyday riadah except weekends
5. After riadah and before dinner together.. Shower and get ready for 25minutes/40minutes (follow the time) Yes, I know it sucks but what sucks even more is that you need to line up and share a bathroom with only 5-7showers. A bathroom is shared by two dorms. One dorm often consists of 15-20 people.
6. Visiting time on Saturday:11am-5pm, Sunday:1pm-5pm
7. No maggi. No romance novels. All food must be put in bilik Kopi. All toiletries in the bathroom.
8. General inspection every Sunday.(Spotcheck locker)
9. You need to own a spoon and a fork.
10. Prep 3 hours and 30 minutes in a day.
11. Lights out at 11pm
12. Before lights out, bacaan/iqamat at dorm
13. Always say "Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera boleh saya masuk" before entering another class or dorm or anywhere that you do not belong
14. T2S Tunduk salam senyum
15. Never step the grass while wearing PVC shoes
16. Public speaking everyday. Everyone will eventually need to.
17. Don't go into the raining area.
18. Only once a month you are allowed to go home, sometimes not at all. For me, I won't have the chance to go back home on July and September.
19. Outing only 8 times in a year. You need to have a Buku Pas Keluar whenever you leave the school. Your parents or siblings need to own a buku Pas Pelawat too.
20. Eat with fork and spoon. Don't pull your chair or make noise with it during dinner.

I could go on and on and on about the rules but I am too tired remembering the school rules while I am at home for a holiday.

So that is it for this post. If you have any questions to ask, do feel free to leave a comment. Geubyeee and Good Luck dear future Seserians!!
